I was contemplating for a while whether to write a post about this or not. Because it would mean I would be dedicating a post about Cinderella..But then I thought, why not.

So I watched the movie today and I wasn't entirely sure what I was expecting other than being able to revisit a classic story from childhood with a bit of cliché romance. The remake did a good job in keeping with the details of the original (but without the talking animals) but I thought that it magnified the kind nature of Ella a lot more than the original.

Like every Disney movie and fairytale, there is a moral lesson of some sort to be learnt; and with Cinderella, there was no exception. In fact, it was said quite clear: "Have courage, and be kind." And I think it's safe to say that Ella was the epitome of what it means to be kind - as shown particularly through her last words to her step-mother (I will not spoil anything). Even though she may not be the most realistic portrayal and example of those five words in today's world, I thought that it was still something worth considering: to choose to forgive when you can easily hate, to not lose hope even when you feel defeated, to be submissive but not weak and to be gentle yet strong.

Overall, the film was a lovely and light-hearted one with no surprises (but with rather vibrant and extremely poofy dresses). And I guess the right thing to do in closing this post is to say exactly what the fairy godmother told me: Have courage, and be kind.

Happy Sunday x
