Bacon Sanga and Vanilla Milkshake [left] & Hummus and Avocado and Berry Smoothie [right] |
Although the shop face did not meet expectations with its faded banner and was situated in a pretty deserted complex, the food definitely boosted up it's impression. It was already a pretty late time to have lunch when we arrived and since the kitchen was already closing, we were only able to order a few items off the menu that did not require the use of the parts of the kitchen that were already cleaned.
The Bacon Sanga and Vanilla milkshake that I ordered was one of the best meals that I have ever eaten at a cafe. I wasn't sure about it at first since cafe style food isn't my preferred choice of meals but looking at the photo now really makes me want to feast on one again. It was so good!
The waiter apologised for the sloppy presentation of the food in the take away containers, but honestly, I would not have even noticed and let it pass thinking that it added to the café's rustic style.

Poppy's Basket Bakery Deli // 031013
My high school friends and I always aim to meet up once every holidays to catch up, and this holiday was no different. It is evident that we all have such different lifestyles and schedules when the only time we could meet up together was a few hours early on a Thursday morning before one had to go to work straight afterwards. It was definitely worth the early wake-up in the holidays if it means seeing their happy faces and catching up over some breakfast and coffee.
We had no plan on where to grab some breakfast so we walked around Little Stanley Street at Southbank for a while until we stumbled upon Poppy's. And I guess the only reason why we went in was because my friend had a craving for bacon and we saw that she could get bacon there...So whilst my friend satisfied her particular craving with bacon and eggs on toast, the rest of us filled our stomachs with a few quiches and some muesli + fruit.

Midam Korean Charcoal BBQ // 031013
Korean BBQ is definitely a luxury for people (like me) who don't usually spend a fair amount on a mountain of meat and the patience to watch your food sizzle on hot plate. But since it was holidays and I hadn't indulged myself in this form of feast in a while, those reasons didn't have to do much persuading in making me hand over those red and blue dollar notes in my wallet in exchange for a good time and meal with friends and then smelling like meat and smoke afterwards.

Comfort at my Table // 041013
To celebrate one of my wonderful friend's 19th birthday, we ventured to the cutest cafe in Milton. Maybe it was the sweet vintage decor and coffee that boosted it to #1 rank on Urbanspoon, but the meal wasn't really up to personal expectations. Nonetheless, it was a lovely morning spent with the girls (it was a rare occasion where all of us were together!) and extra lovely being able to celebrate a special occasion :)
Now my wallet is wearied after being overused in the past few days. Back to simple inexpensive meals at home for the next few months.
