It's been a while since I've done 'favourites'. It's also been a while since I've sketched something. But I'm back! with the October edition of my favourites (rather late than never) and I've been inspired by Frannerd to try out a new style.

1. Coco Cubano. This place probably takes first place on the list of favourite places to eat at in Mackay. It came recommended by many people and they weren't wrong with their recommendation. Their menu covers all bases and everything that I have tried have been on point with their flavours (albeit that time when I ordered a burger not knowing how spicy it was) and portion size. I will definitely miss that place when I leave.

2. Nutribullet. I was in denial of wanting to try out the Nutribullet when it first came out, but after finding one in the house that I'm staying at, I have to say that I really like this nifty gadget. It blitzes up a smoothie in no time (compared to my old blender at home) and washing the components is very convenient. I might just put this on my Christmas wishlist...

3. New music. I've had to find new music to keep me motivated/awake while doing all my reports and research during the past couple of weeks. I have been pleasantly surprised at all the new music that I was introduced to/happened upon, including Paper Kites, Seafret, and Frances.

4. Uncle Toby's yoghurt and strawberry muesli bars. By the time it gets to around 10 in the morning, I'm already famished. These bars have saved me in those desperate times. I can't say that they're the most healthy bars but hey, they do its job fine and they taste good.

5. Inside Out. Finally watched this movie! All the different emotions are portrayed so well and the ending definitely didn't help to stop the tears from coming.

6. ID access cards. At work, the only way to enter the back office area is with an ID access card. For the first few weeks, I didn't have one of these and so I had to wait outside until someone would kindly open the door for me. We finally received our own ID access cards in week 3 and it's probably quite a petty excitement to have, but it has made things so much more efficient and official.

7. French.  My clinical educator showed me this app called Duolingo for learning new languages. I've been skeptical of learning a new language since I've passed that critical window of acquisition but I thought it would be fun anyway, even if it doesn't stick for long. I decided on French just because I've always thought it was an interesting language, and it has been so fun! I was probably practicing for hours on the first day and I really sympathise with my friend who had to listen to my terrible attempts heh..

8. Somersby apple cider. My friends and I have been going out nearly every Friday evening to celebrate the end of the week and to enjoy a night off/out. I'm not an avid drinker but Somersby apple cider is quite a nice light drink to enjoy over a meal.

Now playing: Bloom - The Paper Kites

  1. Cute illustration! I went to see the Paper Kites last year and they play a good show. :) I love how mellow and ethereal they are. I was so confused by your line of French hahaha 'you're... an apple?' I'll check out Duolingo sometime! My workmates love going to Friday drinks and I usually just opt for a lemon lime bitters or virgin cocktail because I get Asian-flush pretty bad!
