Seasons of change

Here is a photo of my mum, my older sister and me at UQ in 1996. I, of course, do not remember this photo being taken or never would have thought that I would now be attending that university 19 years later. I gave this photo to my mum yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day and she was quite delighted at how youthful she looked, but also laughed at my stumpy legs, wispy hair and the way I had my sleeves rolled up like the way I like to do now (I’m a creature of habit I guess).

Because time doesn't stand still, a lot of things have changed since then. And it is interesting how some things change while others do not. Yes, of course physical appearance changes (my legs are definitely the opposite of stumpy now) and even habits, while some are hard to lose, come and go as well. Growing up in itself is a process of change and often when you feel like you have a firm grasp of things and things have finally halted, they shift again and into another season. Life often moves much faster than what our heart and mind is ready for and it’s frightening and unnerving. But thankfully, there are a few constants that provide some stability and ground: family and God. Although the dynamics and individuals in the family itself can change, the relationship is always there. They are the people that provide unconditional love and are always around no matter the circumstance. The same can definitely be said about our Heavenly Father as well.

Anyway, those were just some thoughts that decided to tumble out. Back to reading more articles now.
Happy Monday x
