It's been more than a month since I have posted anything and I am back from my digital absence to put down on paper ideas for the holidays. Holidays felt like it would never come but it has finally arrived! One thing more exciting than knowing that it is holidays is that I am able to wake up in the morning knowing that I can do nothing all day and feel good about it. But there does come a time during the three months where waking up in the morning and realising there is nothing to do is quite...sad and not fun at all. And because all my travel plans for the holidays have not worked out, I know that I am at risk of coming to the day where I will feel, quite plainly, bored. I want to avoid this dilemma so I have been creating a list in my head the past few weeks of some of the things I would like to do or achieve in the holidays.
1) Get cultured. Particularly in movies and books. I have realised that there are a lot of classics that have missed out on or just hasn't crossed my mind to watch/read. Three months is more than enough to time to find a day to grab a bowl of popcorn/ice cream, curl up on a couch and get lost in a good story.
2) Get baking. I have created a folder with all the tabs that I have saved with cake/baked eggs/bread/etc recipes and they all waiting to be opened and trialled. And I am itching to get my hands on some dough to make more bread.
3) Get healthy. For the past year, the extent of my exercise is walking from one side of campus to the other. It's pretty pathetic. Which is why this holidays, I have vowed to go jogging at least twice a week and maybe try my hand at pilates and even force myself to go swimming once in a while.
4) Get creative. I have had a few art projects in mind and I really hope to get these ideas out onto paper or canvas. Surely I will be able to with the vast amount of time I have now, but the struggle lies in fighting those lazy days...
5) Get out more. I know that there will be a risk of wanting to stay at home all day to beat the heat but by the end of the holidays, I want to feel like I have gone out to exciting new places and exploring places that I would not normally have the chance to during the semester. And not just exploring places but going out to meet/catch up with friends once in a while because it's always important to stay connected with the people you care about and love in your life.
