Despite it bustling with people, we were fortunate enough to find the last two seats available (bench seats = my favourite). The cafe has a very homey and warm feel to it - decorated with vintage posters, crocheted pillow covers and recycled materials (our bench was made from what appeared to be an old window shutter). Their added touch of the barrels of fresh fruit, jars filled with coffee beans and fresh flowers also made it feel like a really organic and friendly place to be.
For breakfast, I ordered their breakfast bagel which was packed with everything that goes perfectly in a bagel: free range egg, bacon, haloumi, caramelized onion jam, avocado, and fresh rocket. And my friend ordered their haloumi sandwich on turkish bread grilled haloumi, roast pumpkin, sun dried tomato & rocket.
I have a soft spot for breakfast bagels and this one definitely didn't disappoint. Hallowed Grounds definitely made a good first impression and I'm sure if they continue in delivering good food and coffee, it will nudge itself higher on my list of favourite brunch places.
