The other day, my friend and I visited this new Peter Pan inspired cafe in the Valley called The Lost Boys. If there was a land with all my favourite things and places, this cafe would be the one that would be there. The decor - especially the two trees with its hanging lanterns- made the whole experience feel like I was dining under a canopy in a nook in the forest (if not for the bustling cars that passed by when I looked out the window).
Another thing that I loved about this place was that menus were printed and placed in children novels, which was a bit of a nice novelty. The menu did not have an excessive amount of choices (but there was a chatterbox on the table to help you choose if needed) and leaned towards being a vegetarian menu. For drinks, I ordered a tall iced coconut chocolate and for lunch, we ordered a pizza (focaccia base covered in garlic infused olive oil, green pesto, mozzarella, marinated capsicum and pumpkin, rocket, crushed feta, balsamic glaze and pine nuts).
My friend and I easily (and comfortably) sat there for a few hours chatting without having the feeling of being shooed away for staying so long and the waiter even refreshed our bottle of water a few times without judgement.
It's quite a hidden gem in the city, one that you would not know about if you just pass by but it's definitely a place that is unforgettable once you visit it.
