Seoul Searching // Day 3: Something smells fishy

On Day 3, we took a bullet train down to Busan for a day trip! The Gamcheon Culture Village was the main location my sister wanted to visit but we thought that, since Busan is famous for their seafood, we should have a taste of what they have to offer. So we decided to visit Jagalchi Fish Market - the biggest seafood market in Korea. The bottom floor of the markets displayed all the seafood whilst the level above was the restaurants where they cooked the seafood fresh to serve.

It took us a while but we chose one of the restaurants to have lunch after the ahjumma did a fairly good job at convincing us to choose to eat there. We ordered a seafood stew and it was nothing short of deliciousness. It was full of mussels and brimming with crab, sea snails, abalone and octopus. It started raining in the middle of our meal, but nothing was better than staying inside dining on a warm and delicious seafood stew. One of the best meals eaten in Korea!

We explored the fish markets on the level below and also outside along the streets but the rain started pelting down so we resorted to going shopping for a while (and unexpectedly bought three sweaters which came in handy when it got a bit cold later that day)...

The Gamcheon Culture Village looks as colourful as it does in the photos (with more of a grey hue that day because of the rainy weather). It was a tourist friendly area so there was a track marked out that allowed us to follow the pretty incredible view of all these colourful units packed together along the face of the mountain.

Despite it being a rainy day, it was still quite an adventure in Busan...and that seafood stew is definitely something to remember.
